Crystal Meth Facts: Should Meth Be Prescribed to the Morbidly Obese?
Question by anon: Should meth be prescribed to the morbidly obese?
Now, I am not talking about meth as in crystal meth, but more as in Addarral or Ritalin.
Do you believe it is ethically correct for doctors to prescribe those who are morbidly obese(as in BMI 40+), addarral or ritalin for wieght loss as long as is is distributed in a controlled manner with extra precautions(such as in tests to make sure the medication will not be deadly for the patient) taken before the prescription.
I know doctors already do this, and, in fact, adderral and ritalin are legally allowed to be prescribed for the morbidly obese. And there are numerous of stories of how many obese people lost weight on Adderal and were able to maintain that weight loss even after finishing taking adderall or ritalin. The prescription is also generally considered just as dangerous as prescribing adderral or ritalin to someone with adhd/add(which is relatively safe) as long as the proper precaution(like with any drug) is taken.
But then again, addaral and ritalin are amphetamines and are basically low level meth. And we all know how much meth f’s up the body.
when I say legally, I mean as in off-label prescriptions

Well, you would have to do a clinical study to answer that question and see the effects on a large enough sample size. if what you say is true, then it is worth a try.
