New designer drugs called synthetic marijuana are being sold all over the country. They are causing a lot of concern within the medical community because the manufactures of these new drugs are completely unregulated. Often times, when a person is admitted to a hospital after taking too much of the drugs, doctors do not know how to treat them since they are unsure what ingredients are in the drug. If you or someone you know has developed an addiction to synthetic marijuana it is important that they get medical help from drug detox programs. It may be necessary for them to go through a marijuana detox before they check into rehab, however.
Designer Drugs
Designer drugs are narcotics that are unregulated and manufactured by individuals with no scientific backgrounds. This is just one of the reasons why they are so incredibly dangerous for people to take. It is impossible for doctors to know what to treat if a person comes in experiencing negative side effects for this drug. There have recently been many new cases of overdoses related to synthetic marijuana. It is becoming a growing health concern in the medical community. Some states are finally beginning to ban the sale of these drugs, however, there is not yet a federal ban on selling them.
Consequences
Many people who regularly use synthetic marijuana are developing sever psychological symptoms. In fact, the side effects to using synthetic marijuana are very similar to the side effects of crystal meth. Basically, it is acting in a way that is the complete opposite of what natural marijuana does. This fact has led to an alarming surge in the number of hospital and poison control center admissions. Symptoms of use include panic attacks, hallucinations, memory loss and impaired coordination.
Legality
Although banned in many places, Spice is still widely available. Many places will sell Spice over the counter if a customer comes in knowing the term that the particular place sells it under. Synthetic marijuana is hard to regulate because it is impossible to know what is in it. New batches are cropping up all the time at faster rates than the drug regulating agencies can get a handle on. Some suggest placing a wider ban on synthetic drugs, but others believe this will only exacerbate the problem.
Withdrawal
Withdrawal symptoms from Spice include; anxiety, trembling, tremors, heart palpitations, headaches, nausea, vomiting, depression, as well as hopelessness and desperation. It is an uncomfortable process and the best way to manage withdrawal from Spice is in a detox center than can best handle the process. As if the side effects of actually taking Spice weren’t nasty enough, the withdrawal symptoms are even worse. Once an addiction to Spice is achieved, coming off of this substance is even more painful and difficult.
Even though these new designer drugs are still technically legal, that does not, in any way, mean they are safe for human consumption. In fact, there have been many cases of people who have used these drugs ending up in poison control centers and hospitals around the country. If you think you know someone who has developed an addiction to synthetic marijuana, you should try and convince them to go through a marijuana detox or find a reputable drug detox programs. With the help of medical professionals, it is possible for a person to take their lives back from an addiction to drugs. However, without help, it is highly unlikely a person will be able to get clean on their own.
