I am 25 years old, and recently kicked a 10 year meth habit. my major problem is meth mouth. i was hoping some one could tell me what is the best way to deal with this problem, i can't even smile anymore, and now that i am clean there seems like there are so many reasons to smile. i live in so. cal. and have dental insurance through medi- cal. any info could help, i have been to a dentist. but i have a bad fear of them, and hope there are some that deal specificly with this problem just fyi this profile belongs to my sister and she suggest i use it to find help so thank you all for answering - - except for the ignorant response.- - just because i used meth does not make me a bad person just a person who made bad choices

For meth mouth i suggest keeping extra watch on your teeth and maybe use painkillers like I do when i have a sore mouth.

You're going to need some serious work. Like getting all your teeth pulled and getting dentures. Get a job, and pay for it. And for gods sake - MAN UP .... you can risk your LIFE doing drugs, but you're scared of the dentist? Just read you other ?'s - so you're a nurse with 2 kids and you're a meth addict? CLassic

Lucky for you (and myself....for my extreme FEAR of dentists), many dentists are resorting to sedation now for minor dental work and general anesthesia for major dental work. So shop around and find one who is willing to work with you on a payment plan and get some veniers or crowns. And stay the hell away from the meth. You're lucky that stuff didn't kill you. I'm sure you know how it's made and the ingredients and poisons you put into your body. God created you with a purpose. Now get out and find it!!!! God bless you and stay clean. I'm proud of you!!!! Stay in NA meetings please!!!

The realty of what you are dealing with is no different than the decay and other issues any other person has to deal with that wasn't a meth user...Decay is decay and gum disease is gum disease...You just need to get under the care of a Dentist and allow him or her to prescribe the treatments you will require to restore you mouth to as good a health as possible. Granted you addiction has no doubt caused an amount of oral destruction that would not be normally be see in a person your age...but regardless of that the treatment and cure is the same, dental wise. Good luck and I wish you well.

Im no dentist but have you considered veneers (spelled wrong). They look like real teeth even better. With nice teeth and good oral health you should be able to smile all day! I think you should go for it. You kicked a meth habit i mean meth is one of those drugs that is very hard to resist and you accomplished it i congratulate you for the dedicationa and concentration you put into it. Now the next step is to be rewarded for it so i really think you should do everything possible to make you smile

Wow J-Mo's response is just plain idiocy. I sure hope that you are free of sin before you start talking smack about someone else's problems. In response to the question, this is truly a form of decay and nothing more. Yes it is advanced decay and yes you may need to have teeth pulled, but 1 day of pain (with pain killers prescribed) will beat pain everyday for the rest of your life if you let your teeth continue to rot. Depending on how long ago you quit, your teeth will likely further decay. Read this forum post: methamphetamineabusediscussionforum.yuku.com/ topic/ 621/ t/ Dental-Care.html
